Father's Day in St. Louis

Sunday June 16 - Monday June 17

Sunday was Father's day so Elissa had planned to take us all to some of her favorite spots in St. Louis.  We started out at the St. Louis zoo.  There were showers off and on during our visit, but luckily a lot of the St. Louis zoo exhibits are indoors.  It is located on the site of the 1907 World's Fair.  The buildings were very pretty and ornate for zoo buildings.

Our favorite exhibit was the penguins and puffins.

After lunch, we headed over to the Anheuser-Busch Brewery for a tour and some tastings. We saw the Clydesdale barns complete with stained glass windows and a gorgeous chandelier.

Eric enjoyed his special Father's Day.

On Monday, we decided to see the St. Louis Arch about the time a torrential rain started.  Luckily we had stopped at the Shane Co. jewelry store for Elissa to pick up her new anniversary ring before going to the arch.  They have loaner umbrellas available and we took advantage.

Earlier in the day, those of us with no Cardinal wear (Eric, Beth and Melissa) bought Cardinal T-shirts to wear to the baseball game.  I had pictured us all standing in front of the stadium taking pictures in our new Cardinal T-shirts.  Since it was pouring down rain, we just made a mad dash for the stadium.

We thought we were so fortunate that the game was starting early at 6:05 and we could drive a little ways out of St. Louis after the game.  The game ended up being rain delayed until about 8:00.  It was a great game.  The Cardinals won and Matt Holliday from Stillwater made several great plays.
