Baltimore, Maryland

We took the Baltimore Light Rail system into Baltimore's Inner Harbor area on Sunday September 2.  The Baltimore Grand Prix was running in the Harbor area and we got to see and hear a bit of it.  This was a road race with the indy cars.  We watched for a few minutes from outside the fence at several locations as we walked towards the harbor from the train stop.

We walked around the harbor area, saw the USS Constellation, and had fish and chips at an Irish Pub -  Tir Na Nog.

While walking back to our train stop, we saw this neat tower and it turned out to be the "Bromo Seltzer" tower.  A security guard saw me taking a photo of it and told us a little bit about it. Bromo Seltzer was a headache remedy.  The tower was built in 1911 and was the tallest building in Baltimore at the time.  The building was modeled on the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, Italy.  It originally had a big bottle of Bromo Seltzer on the top of the building but it was too heavy and caused structural problems, so it was removed.
