Nantasket Beach in Hull, Massachusetts

We arrived at Nantasket Beach in Hull, Massachusetts on Tuesday, September 4 and will be staying at the Nantasket Beach Resort until Saturday.  Doesn't Nantasket Beach sound cute?  It is a darling beach town with a beautiful beach and a lovely, picturesque harbor.  It is on a very narrow peninsula sticking out into the Atlantic Ocean near Boston Harbor.

The harbor.  You can see how narrow the land is.  You can see water on both sides of the buildings.

There is an old fort from the early 1900's here.  With it's strategic location near Boston Harbor, there have been forts here since the Revolutionary War.

The town was started in 1644.  They were known for keeping a rescue boat to rescue people from boats wrecked in storms and then made money from salvaging the wrecks.
This is the old rescue boat.  It is very small.  I can't imagine taking it out on the ocean in a storm.

We are really enjoying the slow pace here.  We are within walking or biking distance to just about everything.  We have enjoyed taking nice long walks along the beach picking up rocks and beach glass.  So far we have found three pieces of beach glass and one is very pretty.  I am going to have to make a necklace or something out of it.

We have also enjoyed riding our bikes into the downtown area to eat at the local diner and the bakery.

There are a lot of surfers here, so we spend a fair amount of time watching them.  There are quite of few doing the stand-up paddle surfing.

One evening we ate pizza at an open counter across from the beach so we could watch the surfers.

Another evening we enjoyed a lobster dinner.  We thought we might have trouble cracking them, but found that it was just like eating crawfish - only a lot bigger.

Last night, we rode our bikes down to the harbor on the west side to enjoy the sunset.  Unfortunately a small rain storm popped up, so there was no pretty sunset but the harbor was still pretty.
