Historic Area of Charleston

We had brunch again at the Triangle Grill in Charleston.  Eric had his favorite southern meal of fried chicken livers and grits covered with tasso gravy and topped with an egg. We are not sure what tasso gravy is, but it's pretty tasty.
After brunch, we headed to the Charleston Historic District.  A rain storm was coming in off the harbor and it really cooled things down, so the walk around the district felt good.  Our first stop was the Cathedral of  St. John the Baptist.  It is a beautiful gothic cathedral with lots of stained glass.  We loved all the detail in the windows.

Then we headed out for Rainbow Row and Battery Park right on the lower tip of the Charleston peninsula.  Last week, Elissa and I each bought a "Charleston Gate" necklace.  Mine is of the gate on the blue house in Rainbow Row so I wanted to find that house.  There are gorgeous houses all over this area.  Ft. Sumter
is visible out in the harbor.
