Leaving Daytona

On Thursday, August 16 we left Daytona to head for Orlando to meet up with Jonathan and Elissa.  We couldn't leave Daytona, however, without a trip to Daytona International Speedway.  We looked around the speedway and walked down the walk of fame.

After leaving Daytona, we decided to check out another beach community before heading to Orlando.  We drove south to New Smyrna Beach.  The water at New Smyrna was even clearer and bluer than at Daytona and the beach was nice and wide.  It was less developed than Daytona, with mostly condos and beach houses.  Not very many hotels.  It had more of a community feel.  We ate lunch at the Dolphin View restaurant and enjoyed some great fish and chips.  We even saw a dolphin while eating.  After we left New Smyrna, it took just a little over an hour to get to Orlando.  We met Elissa and Jonathan at the Rosin Inn on International Drive.  This hotel and the one we stayed at in Daytona were packed with Europeans.  Eric and thought that if we had flown all the way from Europe, we would hate to vacation in Daytona.  Mexican resorts are so much nicer.
